Jerry & Lynda Neuman
Jerry and Lynda have as their primary ministry emphasis training Brazilian pastors and missionaries, as well as facilitating the sending of Brazilians to national and cross-cultural contexts.
At five years of age, Jerry recognized his need for salvation and was led to the Lord by his mother. Due to growing up in several cross-cultural settings and his love for languages and Bible teaching, God’s leading to full-time missionary service became clear to him during his senior year in high school. Along with her mother, Lynda trusted Christ at seven, during an evangelistic conference and committed to serve God wherever He would lead as a college sophomore at Bible school. Since arriving in Brazil on January 23, 1984, they have served on three different fields in the Northeast.
The Neumans have four children. Nathan, married to Betania, with Natanzinho and Natalie live in S. California where Betania is pursuing a medical residency. Rachael is married to Pedrinho, a pastor at the Candelaria Baptist Church in Natal, where they both minister in the area of music and discipleship. Luke is studying at The Master’s College in preparation for missionary service somewhere in Asia. Lydia is a sophomore in high school at Fortaleza Academy where she ministers to young children in the congregation where the Neumans are involved.
The Neumans are involved in the Maranatha Baptist Bible Church where they serve as counselors to the leadership who are all seminary students. At a recent luncheon at their home, they were surprised to learn that there are 17 from this group who are looking towards missionary service! Although Jerry gave up a career in botany research to become a missionary, this interest has recently blossomed into a hobby of home gardening. Besides being their official webmaster, Lynda enjoys chatting with her scattered children and reading when she finds moments of spare time.
