Luke & Alethea Doremus
Luke and Alethea met at Corban University in 2008, and as they say, "the rest is history." They were married in April 2011 and moved to Tacoma, where they live now.
Luke grew up in Gig Harbor, WA and is the oldest of his 2 siblings. His parents provided them a great example of living Christ-centered lives, and Luke accepted Christ as his Savior when he was 8. He played baseball growing up and loves playing on the “Patriots” church softball team each summer.
Alethea was born and lived in Corvallis, OR until age 11, when her family moved to Salem. There her dad taught Music Education/Choral Arts at Corban University (previously Western Baptist College). Alethea received the Lord to be her Savior at age 7, at home with her mom and dad, though her faith become more real and better understood when she embarked on a month-long mission trip to Romania. There she learned that even her simple testimony was powerful to others who had already been through many hardships. Even her gifts of music and energy for people could be used to do God's work, and even at 14 she could be used by God to minister to people across the globe. Alethea pursued music, following her dad's footsteps, at Corban, from where she graduated in December 2012.
Luke and Alethea have a heart and love for youth ministry. Having served in Keizer, OR with their previous church, they were able to see the Lord's plan for them with teens. It is such an impressionable age and is, therefore, an imperative time for students to study God's Word and make His Truth their own, a time to take ownership of their faith. High school is also a very fun age, one where leaders have the chance to see students grow over a tremendous period of change and age range.
The Doremus' have two kids, a fury, little, red dog named Kona and their daughter, Ava, born November 2014. They love being parents and exploring the Puget Sound area, going on walks, boating, hiking, kayaking and whatever else they can manage with their little baby girl. Luke works for COUNTRY financial and Alethea has a few private piano and voice lesson students.
