OUR FALLEN HERO

SGT Gabriel DeRoo was killed in action in Mosul, Iraq by enemy fire on August 20th, 2006. He was an outstanding man of God who wanted so much for himself to be an instrument for the Lord. In every area of his life he gave one hundred percent. He was completely devoted to his wife Hannah (Suko) and little son Gabriel. Gabe was a dedicated soldier. The men in his unit looked up to him. He was a powerful witness to his fellow soldiers of the Lord Jesus Christ. We know Gabe is now with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven.

There were about six memorial services in his honor from Iraq to Fort Lewis. The final funeral was held at Temple Baptist Church in Tacoma, WA because there was not sufficient room at Gabe regular church, Discovery Baptist in Gig Harbor. Gabe's father, General Hillman gave tributes to gabe as Pastor Mark, Gabe's father-in-law led the service. Local Sheriff and Police officers provided security.

The funeral procession was led by a special police escort. Highway 16 and Interstate 5 were shut down by the officers briefly so the procession could pass as they saluted. At Tahoma National Cemetery Gabe was laid to rest with full military honors. Col. William Crooks said he had never seen even a high ranking officer honored in such a way.

"Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 You can see more at http://www.gabrielderoo.us/. A special tract entitled Mission Accomplished has been printed that tells of Gabe's service to our country, love for his family and faith in God. You may request it in quantity free of charge from Discovery Baptist Church.

Please pray for Hannah, little Gabriel, Gabe's parents, his sisters and the Suko family. Please pray for Chaplain Joe Riley, Lance Holtgeerts, Eric Sakuma, and Captain Heyward Davis who are continuing to serve their country in Iraq at this time.
