The Living Nativity

This year was the return of the Living Nativity. The Living Nativity was not held last year due to how busy the months prior had been with the completion of our new church building. Preparations started early this year. New props and booths were built. For several weeks before the Nativity skeletons of these new sets could be seen on the church lawns. By Saturday December 9th the Discovery Baptist Church Parking lot was transformed into the village of Bethlehem. This year it included a walk through tour for those who wanted to get a little more up close, a lentil booth, and a henna booth for those who wanted to have a henna painting on their hands. We also had the Bethlehem "Theater" showing a video of the importance of Christ coming to earth as a tiny baby.
The plan was to hold the Living Nativity on Saturday the 9th and Saturday the 16th. On Thursday night and very strong wind storm came through the Northwest and caused massive power outages. The church was one of the places to be left without power. Sets had also been blown pretty bad. So the second half of the Living Nativity had to be canceled.
Here are some pictures taken this year.

"Then the angel of the Lord said to them, 'Do not be afraid. for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David, a Savior, Who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign to you: You shall find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.'"
Luke 2:10-14

As we all get ready for Christmas decorating, buying gifts and visiting friends and family, let's remember what is truly special about Christmas. This is when we celebrate the precious gift God gave us, His one and only Son Jesus Christ, to be the sacrifice for our sins.
"...so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin for salvation." Hebrews 9:28
