SENDING SERVICE for C. Suko family Aug. 12th, 07

Sending missionaries to a field is an important way for the church to carry out Christ's final command to go into the world with the Gospel (cf. Acts 1:8; Mat. 28:19-20). God first led Caleb Suko and his father, Pastor Mark Suko, to Ukraine in 1994 to help with a mission project following the fall of the USSR. They helped build a facility for training believers in church ministries. This was a great time of new freedoms and spiritual harvest that continues to this day there. Therefore, we prayed about our future involvement. In the process of time and prayer God lead DBC to send Rachel Suko first in 2004 and now Caleb and Christina Suko to the field of Ukraine much as Paul and Silas were sent on their first missionary journey by the church in Antioch (Acts 13).

Sunday evening Aug. 12th we gathered as a body to formally send them off to a life of ministry in Ukraine. Caleb will be the vice president of the Church Ministries Institute in Odessa where we have been involveed since 1994. John Taylor, the current president of the CMI in Odessa, was the key speaker at the service. Following the service their foot prints were cast in a cement stepping stone for our missions garden. Caleb and Christina will be working through the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism based in Harrisburn, PA.
