DISCIPLESHIP INSTITUTE 9/16 - 11/11 2007

Sundays  5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

 

Classes run in two four week segments and are free except for some optional materials. 

Snack Schedule for fellowship break:  9/16 Pies; 9/30 Veggies, dips & chips; 10/7 Brownies, cheese & crackers;  10/14 Fruits & cookies; 10/21 Pies; 10/28 Vegetables, dips & chips; 11/4 Brownies, cheese & crackers;  11/11 Fruits & cookies. 

 

Survey of Genesis to Deuteronomy by Clint Banz

This course taught by Clint Banz is an introductory survey of the first five books of the Old Testament (The Pentateuch). Special attention will be given to the history, theology, and literary features of each book. This course is designed to help the believer read these books with greater understanding and to appreciate their importance in God’s great plan of redemption.

 

Apologetics by Norm Myers

1Pe 3:15  but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;   Are you able to defend your faith with confidence?  Apologetics is the subject that allows you to give answers to those who questions  aspects of the Christian Faith.  Norm will start the class 9/30 and delve into important aspects of the subject.

 

Christian Ethics for Fallen People  by Tim Arsenault

The majority of people believe in God, but many of these believe there are no ethical absolutes. How can that be? Our culture is in an alarming crisis for truth and morality. Are there biblical guidelines for addressing important ethical issues in our time (I.e. abortion, euthanasia,  truth-telling, a just war, etc.). This class will offer timely application of God's eternal standards in our morally confused times. 

 

Growing Kids God’s Way  by Pastor Mark & Graham Marshall

This is a comprehensive values-based curriculum for parents primarily of young children through grade school. The video series there is emphasizes on the way of the Lord.  It can help any parent reach the heart of children with virtues and values that flow from the character of God with many practical suggestions.  We will point out both strengths and weaknesses of the material and have time for discussion after each tape.

 

Discovery Land 

Kids 3 to 12 will enjoy Discovery Land activities.  A nursery for children 36 months and younger will also be provided in the Nursery.
