MARJORIE HAYES REMEMBERED

We are saddened to announce that Marjorie Hayes, wife of Dr. Harold Hayes, passed away suddenly on Mothers Day May 11th. The Hayes were long time friends and new members of DBC. Dr. Hayes served retired as Air Force Chaplain and also pastored several churches in the NW following his retirement from the Air Force. Marjorie was a vibrant personality and part of our active prayer team. She is also the mother of our music director Paul Hayes. A special memorial for her will be held at DBC on Monday, May 19th at 7 p.m. The service may be downloaded under our "Sermons" menu or by clicking here and then selecting the message for 5/19/08.

MOTHER'S DAY MAY 11

A Mother's Day card had a picture of a somewhat nerdy looking older lady in a pink leisure suit. The pudgy mom was on stage, had funny looking glasses on, her mouth was open and she was juggling about five flaming torches. Get the picture? The caption inside the card said, "You never cease to amaze me." For mother's life can seem like juggling torches. It can be a bit dangerous. Fumble one and you are in big trouble. That is why Mom needs encouragement.
May 11 is Mother's Day and we'll honor mothers starting at 9:15 in the auditorium for a short time of testimonies before our annual Mom's Day breakfast. Guys and kids can bring Mom's favorite breakfast foods to share. We'll provide the juice, coffee and free lattes. Our photographer will be on hand to take free Mom and Me pictures too for any who would like them.
Then at 10:30 we'll have our main Mother's Day worship with music and a special testimony by Patricia Hubbard about a mother's powerful role. We will also have our annual Mom's Day Awards. The morning message will be about the power of hospitality from Romans 12:13. I call it "The Hostess with the Mostess". What does that really mean? Plan to bring your mother or someone who is like a mother with you.

RAMP PROJECT BEGINS

The construction of our long awaited handicap ramp to the Edification Center began this weekend. The permit was approved by the county and we are now moving to replace the rotten porch and add a new ramp and connecting walk. The damaged patio will be replaced to meet the walk. The flag pole will be moved and rededicated to SGT De Roo (See ARCHIVES for August 2006) on Flag Day. Soon it will be possible for all our handicap folk to get to the fireside and office with ease.
