Roger and Toni Travis

Deacon - Ushers & Security

Roger was born in Kent, Washington in '67. His dad was part of the Boeing exit at that time, so he got a job in central California and they moved to Selma. Roger accepted Christ as his savior at age 8 at church in Kingsburg, California.

His family moved back to Washington and he finished middle school thru high school in East Wenatchee. He was baptized at a church in Port Orchard after Toni and he were married.

His schooling included Wenatchee Valley College associate degree and in 1990 he graduated from WSU Pullman in Mechanical Engineering and got a job at the shipyard in Bremerton.

Roger and Toni met at a church in Wenatchee and he had known her for a long time before they were married in 1990. They have 6 kids, 5 of whom live with them in Olalla. Amy (their oldest) has a part time job, Zac got a place he is working on in Seabeck and works IT at Harrison Hospital in Silverdale, Lauren works at a Gig Harbor day-care with 2-year-olds, William works at UPS in Fife and is going to school at TCC, and both Anne and Caleb are homeschooled. (Toni is currently Anne's Classical Conversations instructor.) Toni has homeschooled all the kids as they grew up. They currently have a small farm with 2 cats, 7 chickens, and a cow and one calf.

Roger has been working for the Navy for about 28 years (mostly Bremerton; Crane Maintenance). He specialized in mobile and floater crane maintenance. Then after a few years working swing-shift learned electrical troubleshooting and was able to assist with both mechanical and electrical maintenance work. In 2011 he got a job as a supervisor for Crane and Rigging Engineering at Ship Repair Facility in Yokosuka, Japan. Their family traveled to Japan and enjoyed a 5-year tour there. Roger returned to the shipyard in 2016 as the mechanical engineering supervisor in Crane Maintenance, just recently becoming the supervisor of 9 engineers and technicians in the Rigging Engineering office.

Roger has many mechanical and electrical skills but thinks fixing things may be his calling. He also enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, biking, and canoeing.
